Sacred Heart School of Imagination

Return back RETURN TO ALL

Sacred Heart's School of Imagination required multiple different educational facilities to be integrated with their own unique specifications. The new building enables improved delivery of the music and drama curriculum as well as a new Modern Learning Centre.

Sacred Heart's School of Imagination is a multi-purpose facility housing a library, ICT, research centre, music suites, music lesson rooms, digital recording studio, 250 seat performing arts theatre, and 'Knowledge Centre'.

Whilst the building appears as one singular entity from the exterior, inside houses these various different spaces each with different uses and requirements, key among them was the need for acoustically separate sections.

As a result, RCC constructed the building with 90% double walls to ensure superfluous noise was kept to a minimum. RCC also installed double-glazed windows throughout a majority of the building to further improve noise cancellation. We held regular meeting with key partners to ensure these standards were kept.

The programme was also split into two parts to allow the school earlier access - the library section was finished first, followed by the kitchen and theatre components.

With a high class theatre, recording studio, songwriting rooms, rehearsal rooms, guitars, amplifiers, drum kits, keyboards, a knowledge centre, and a raft of orchestral instruments, the School of Imagination means that the school’s sporting and academic focus are now matched by the focus, respect and funding accorded to artistic endeavours.

RCC was extremely proud to deliver this incredibly special and meaningful project for Sacred Heart.
